This is what we were surround by for the past weekend; Vermonts rolling, leave changing covered hills. It was a great trip. We had a gorgeous day, an overcast one, and a super chilly night, but we were with great friends and had some awesome food.
So without further delay, I give you, "Camp Joseph: Fall 2012" in about 30 pictures.
Camp Jospeh is located near the birth place of our Church's founder, Joseph Smith. We were able to visit the memorial dedicated to honor life and the service and sacrifice he provided to others.
After the tour of the visitor's center we headed on a little walk to see the old foundations of homes that Joseph and his family lived in.
The handcarts were a big hit.
As were the bikes and the hills
There's nothing better than having Daddy around full time for a few days.
The kids were eating it up.
Still refusing to walk.
Day 2 was a bit overcast and rainy so we headed to the Ben and Jerry IceCream Factory Tour.
And afterwards we took a drive to see the von Trapp Family Resort. Stowe, VT was were the von Trapp family ended up after their flee from Austria. They built a large farmhouse and often invited visitors to stay with them in the summers. The origional lodge burned down in the 80s, but the new resort is breathtaking and still managed by the Trapp family.
I think we learn things each time we camp and are getting better at it. Getting a cabin was a definate plus, and I think we'll keep that a tradition on our future "fall" camping trips. Having bunks and a solid roof over our heads helped our attitude towards the coming showers. If we had tents it would have been very tempting to just throw it all in the car and take off towards home when the weather turned wet. Instead we spend the chilly evening watching movies on our iPad and playing cards under our sleeping bags.
And it was great to go with our friends. Joni and Spencer are super campers. He filled his trailer with all sorts of great camping gear and it was nice to benefit from his hard work, and to shove a few of our own belongings in for the ride home so we would be less cramped in our van.
Sunday morning we packed up and got to listen to General Conference on the drive home.

Beautiful pictures! We know what a treat it is to get Dad all to ourselves for a few days. It's the best.
Maybe next year we will join. Cabin sounds fun.
That sounds and looks like a fabulous family trip!
I loved all of your places you visited. They looked awesome! Glad to hear your camping went well, we booked a camping Thanksgiving in a cabin so we're hoping that goes well!!! ;)
