Birthday Gracie Girl

Tis birthday season around here, and Gracie Girl is next with her fourth.

Not everyone was "into" being photographed this afternoon.

But look at this big girl, all smug and ready to do her thing.
This is the first year she has voluntarily blown out her candles.

And with some "My Little Ponies" and a Barbie car from Nana, and a cute necklace and clothes from Grandma she was all set.

Until we told her she had another surprise.

Back story:  I have had the three little kids sharing the same room for the past five months or so.  We moved the baby out of the "spare room" and into Gracie and Cayden's bedroom when our nephew came for the summer, and we never bothered to move him out because it actually worked to have them all together.  They would kinda talk each other to sleep at night.  But lately, Gracie has been the one waking everyone up at night with her yells for "I gotta go pee!" and I have noticed that it would be nice for her to have her own space away from the boys where she could play her girlie toys without them being wrecked by obnoxious brothers.
Thus it has become time for Wendy to leave the nursery.

I found a headboard and foot board on craiglist for $15 to make our boxspring and mattress into an actual bed, and added the little vanity I had collected as a side table.  The wall paint job from when Emma was a baby stayed, because I don't know if I'll ever be able to paint over those stripes, they were so much work.  Some of my favorite family photos that I got printed out but never got around to framing are pinned to the wall behind her bed.  We collected all her favorite toys and a quilt from our wedding from my grandma.  We hung up some of her artwork too.  Some pillows the other girls had made, her piggy bank, and her favorite stuffies finished up our princesses "own room".  The big girls are of course very jealous that Gracie is the one with her own room, and we just tell them, since she is our littlest girl, we plan on spoiling her all that we can:) Never mind that they just got a new room last Christmas, ungrateful beasts.

At first you could tell that she was uneasy with idea of being alone, but she has really grown into the idea. She went off to bed that night just fine in her big girl bed and this afternoon after lunch when the boys were down for their nap, she happily told me she was going to her own room to play.  And when I peeked in she had made herself right at home next to her doll house with barbies and ponies strewn across the floor.

Happy Birthday little one!
But I'm not sure your daddy is going to let you have anymore.
He just can't stand the idea that you are growing up.
