Westhampton Beach, Long Island

Can I tell you how much I like Coverstar?
I don't always like it, but mostly I do.

I really liked it this week when Adam had a couple of covers to install on the end of Long Island, near the beaches, and he suggested we go with him ;)
Yea, squeal.
A beach vacation!
I have wanted one ever since moving East, but it's not
very easy fitting one in when your in the "pool" business.

So I scoured the "net" for two days notice he gave me;) looking for a vacation home within our budget, that would rent for just three nights, and was available on short notice.  Man, it was a task, but I was never, never going to give up.  I was on a mission.  I was going to find a beach house if it killed me.
And I did!
A big house too, with enough room to invite our good friends along and it had a pool.
Slam dunk.

A little bit of meal planning, grocery shopping, and packing and we were on our way.

The funnest way to get to Long Island is to take a ferry from Bridgeport, CT across the Long Island sound to Port Jefferson.  You get to drive your car onto a boat!
Then instead of spending all that time driving through New York City you get to enjoy the sights, sounds, and winds of the ferry.

Those kids couldn't unload that car fast enough, they wanted in that pool so bad.

(I'm not supposed to take pictures of Dad on his phone, but its kinda hard to avoid it)

After a quick dinner we headed out for an evening walk on the beach.

Two feet down the walkway and we are already sifting the soft sand with our fingers.

It was really, really NICE sand.

And yes, he did get drenched, like we all knew he would.

Proof that I was there, even if I am out of focus.

Day 2 and 3 were practically identical. We hung out at the house most of the day waiting for the soft rain to finish and let the sun come out.  Wayne and Amber and their three girls had joined us.  So while Adam and Wayne were working on the covers, Amber and I were in charge of the house.  We did breakfast and pool and movies and chilled and lunches and naps.  The kids really got along great together, since thier ages match up so well, so everyone pretty much had a best friend which made it super nice.

But by afternoon when the husbands were home, we were done waiting for the weather and headed down anyway.  We saw patches of sunlight, but mostly a lot of wind and clouds.
The waves were good though and the water just the right temp so we stuck it out far longer than any other beach goers.

Then we would pile into our vans, sand, sand everywhere, throw everyone in the showers when we got to the house, start a load of laundry, fix dinner together, eat, and get the kids to bed as quick as we could.  There was a lot of teamwork.

Four best friends.

Launching kiddos on boogie boards-Adam's favorite sport.

High five from Gracie,
but a wipe out for Cayden.

All this little man needed was his "tovel" and his orange soda and he was a happy camper.

Deemed the "Best Vacation Ever" by many.
To definately be repeated.
