I was on the hunt for a great Easter egg hunt for my kids to do on Good Friday. The one I found was in a bit of a disappointment for most of the kiddos. It was held in a big grassy field and tons of eggs were just scattered everywhere. Not much of a hunt for the big girls. It was also a candy-free egg hunt and Cayden was super disappointed because instead of finding candy in his eggs he kept finding stickers or small toys. It was a big hit with Gracie and the babe. They collected with gusto.

Next up, posing with the Easter Bunny.
He was scarier than Santa Clause.
Only Emma was a fan.

Since the egg hunt was held at a nature preserve we'd never been too, it was time to check out their trails. Everyone had a great time finding and following the markers, discovering the green gunk in the stagnant water, crossing the bridges over the stream we were following, and letting mom take as many pictures as she wanted.

Another winner was the small animal exhibit at the egg hunt. There was a mama and baby goat, a duck, and a rabbit. I could not believe how that rabbit never, ever moved. Just sat on his bale and let kid after kid pet/lightly pound on him.

Nap time Egg painting.
I don't know about you, but egg dying is not my favorite sport. I get anxious just thinking about all those glasses full of dye and my dinning room filled with accidentally prone kids. So this year we tried something different. We can never eat as many eggs as we dye, so I let them go ahead and just paint our eggs with craft paint. It was fun, but there were nearly just as many anxious moments as using dye.

Saturday we spent the day cleaning the garage(score 2/7) and having the first cookout of the year with friends(score 7/7).
Easter morning and church were the usual hullabaloo. Easter baskets were found, children were clothed, breakfast was eaten, and no pictures were taken.
They looked so darn cute. Shoot. Emma was feeling terrible with a fever and sore throat, but we made her stick it out for the first hour, since no one could stay home with her. Adam was conducting sacrament meeting and I played the piano for the primary kids' special Easter number.
As soon as sacrament meeting was over, I took Emma and the little man home and promptly put them both to bed. Here is the littlest man in his after church glory with the remains of our Easter basket hunt in the background.(The Easter bunny uses string woven in a maze throughout the house to help the kids find their baskets)*idea from 71toes.blogspot.com

With the kids asleeping I had the whole kitchen to myself and I'd say I really whipped up a marvelous Easter dinner. I should make that a regular part of Easter. Ditch church to cook in peace;) We got to eat our yummy meal at our new dinning table Adam and I had picked up on date night from a couple on craigslist a few days before. It is lovely. It is big and has incredibly tough benches.

To finish off the day, more Easter egg hunting, peep covered cake, and Mormon Messages.

Remember when we all hunted for Easter eggs at Nancy's house and there was still snow on the ground? Hahaha. It was almost that cold this year. I like your idea of painting the eggs. I wonder if my kids would go for that. Looks like more fun to me!
