It was such a nice treat to have Adam's parents here for a visit. Nine months without seeing them feels too too long. I was so surprised when Cayden saw them drive in and shouted, "Nana and Papa are here!" It was the best thing in the world, even though my little boy has only seen them on a couple of times, he loves them and knows that they are somethings special and that they love him too. Sharon and Don arrived exaclty on our first day of summer vacation and it was a wonderful way to start out the break.
Here Sharon is showing how she can hold a baby, play game with a toddler or two, all while having an intense board game going on with the other older grandchildren.
Another face you'll see around for a few weeks is our nephew, Ethan. He is 12 and convinced his mom that he needed a real job, and since no one can really hire a 12 year-old, he came to us. He helps in Adams warehouse in the afternoons and out on jobs that Adam goes to and the rest of the time he is mine, to mow the lawn, clean the garage, and take out the trash:). But aside from all the great help he is, we have really enjoyed having him here. Cayden is in awe, and Gracie loves him to pieces. The older girls are extatic to have someone around that is always willing to play a board or card game, and Adam and I are having fun trying to be the good aunt and uncle we always hoped we could be.
Their visit included t-ball games, a bike outing, church, a lake trip, and another t-ball game(finally the last!).
Our bike ride was a blast. We have quiet a stable of bikes now-a-days, but we still needed to rent a couple, and Kent Bicycle Tours, CT is the place to do that. Sal, the owner, set us up and sent us on a really pretty ride that led us to a picturesqe covered bridge, Bulls Bridge.
Our last day was a little lake time and some more t-ball.
You want to see more Emma and T-ball pics don't you?
Emma had a great time playing t-ball this year. Our neighbors and good friends were the coaches. While her swing and arm still need some refining, Emma really learned a lot about the rules of the game. In these last few pics Emma had tagged her blue opponet out as he ran to third. He claimed that she didn't get him. She was baffled that someone would outright lie like that, but she smiled and continued playing without too much trouble. Nana had to reassure Emma that we had all seen her get the out, but that we were proud of her by letting the little boy continue playing and not throwing a stink.
And all too soon, Nana and Papa headed home.
