It felt so weird to be starting a summer without a trip home, that I had to make an excuse for one, plus I still miss them all so much. So Graice, the baby, and I headed to sunny AZ for my brother Kurt's highschool graduation. I have lived so far away for so long, I have missed all my other siblings graduations, plus so many of their other events. Proms, Eagles, mission farewells, sports events, college graduations....poo. I am going to try harder, plus now I have nieces and nephews to think about, and being a good aunt takes work.
Adam was great with the other kids while I was away. He got the girls off to school with lunches, and made it to the softball and t-ball games, plus he lugged Cayden along where ever he went for work each day. Cayden had some serious fits when I came home and he could no longer hang with Dad each and every minute of the day.
I really enjoyed my trip with Gracie. She is a fountain of non-stop jabber. She has millions of questions, and the simple answers don't satisfy her anymore. She wants the truth, the whole truth. She was super excited to go see Grandma and Papa, and to squeeze in a visit with Nana and Papa, and swim in aunt Janice's pool. I am amazed that she can keep them all straigh and she knows and loves them even if we see them just once or twice a year. And I had to take the baby along, because so many people haven't met him yet, and he is still young enough to fly free, and still sleeps for most of the flights.

Gosh I wish my camer took better night photos.
I was standing on the back of the bleachers, leaning againts a chain linked fence to keep myself steady, but I didn't end up with nearly enough "good" ones. I hope my mom isn't angry. I was supposed to be the photographer for the night.
But it was neat to be back at my old high school. There are still a handfull of my teachers still teaching. It is such a small community, his class total was only 50 kids, but everyone turns out to see each year's graduation. I was pleased to see so many lost friends, facebook is wonderful, but actually hugging a friend that you haven't "seen" since graduation was so nice. I kept my kids by my side to show them off as much as possible and to brag about the other three at home with my total catch of a husband.

I don't know what is going on that's so funny over here, but here's another try at a family pic
.....and another....
Our Saturday morning hike
(we may have gotten a late start, so it was plenty warm out there!)
That poor little white girl looks like she is about to faint,
but she was fine.
We were on a mesa overlooking my dad's farm, so I made him pose.
Red cheeked.
Kurt is the brother that looks the most like our dad growing up.
Those steel baby blues could charm any girl.
I handed my camera to my brother Jake after a while and I ended up with quite a few shots of his lovely new wife. Who could blame him?
Eric, the brother-in-law.
He thinks I tease him too much, but honestly, he is a blast to hang out with.
Good job, Lisa.
"Thor, Son of Oden" flies through the air!
It cracks me up how much that little Luke loved the cape Lisa and Grandma made him.
Gracie was really pleased with her princess one too.

And here is Cayden, at home, enjoying his new cape.
We did Batman on one side and a Thunderbolt on the other.
I told him it was for Lighting McQueen and he was cool with that,
since he doesn't know Thor yet.

I wasn't ready to leave yet, but my family at home needed me, and so we left the desert and headed home, my real home.
