Thankfully, Irene listened to our plea and blew her winds out by the time she got to us.
We saw a lot of rain, I mean A lot, but the winds weren't too bad and we never even lost power. Not everyone in our state was so lucky. Towns nearby have seen power outages, tree and road damage, and flooding, but mostly we were lucky. Here are some photos from our WFSB news.
The girls and Adam were a bit disappointed with our hurricane, but I was fine with the amount of hurricane we did get. We'll be raking up those leaves and branches for a while. We ended the day with our back to school feast and father's blessings.
We had had many different plans for our feast as the week had progressed. Originally we started with the idea of fancy mac and cheese with all the works, but if the power was to go out we had to have a meal that we could cook with alternative methods. So the new menu was hot dogs and steak on the grill. Then as the day progressed and the "eye" of the storm passed us over unscathed we abandoned the hot dogs and started on the cinnamon rolls.

I love the hammock! :)
So glad to hear you guys are ok!
Yeah for safety. And you have to be the coolest mom ever to make cinnamon rolls for dinner. Seriously.
