Last week heard the heartbreaking news that our little friend Kaylee, who is 7 and smack dab inbetween my two girl's ages, was diagnosed with a tumor in her kidney. It was removed successfully, but she has 6 months of radiation and chemo ahead of her. Ellie and Emma were full of questions and concerns and wanted so much to help all they could. We talked about how the medine Kaylee would have to take would make her very sick and even make her hair fall out. That of course was a bit unbelievable to them. Medicine that makes you sick, how crazy?!? And when I mentioned that sometimes cancer patients wear wigs made from other people's hair to cover thier bald little heads, I saw a lightbulb come on in both the girls.
Emma was the first to catch on, "Ellie could give her hair to Kaylee!"
and Ellie nodded in enthusiasm!
While I explained that her hair won't go directly to Kaylee, she would still be doing something so wonderful for someone just like Kaylee. At our appointment she never looked a bit nervous or grieved. She so happily gave. I might have had to look a way for a sec as they sawed through the thickness of that ponytail, but I was so proud of her.
Not to be left out, Emma got a wash and a trim too.
I don't have a good picture of her "after" haircut yet.
The girls jumped in our neighbors pool right as we
got home, but I'm sure you'll see one soon.

What amazing girls! What a wonderful gift.
That is so sweet. What wonderfully, selfless girls.
What an amazing life lesson to give to your girls. Kaylie's blog is inspirational and wonderful to see the gospel weaved into it. The hardest part of my job is seeing families without the eternal perspective.
OH MY!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE CUT IT ALL OFF!?!?!?!
She is such a sweetheart I wouldn't expect anything less of her.
How awesome is that!
