We had a wonderful trip into the city. Usually a visit to the city kinda stresses me out and makes me grumpy, but I did my planning and things worked out well. The biggest stress reliever: we took the train and nobody had to drive. That was so relaxing and the girls thought it was great to ride backwards all the way. We explored Grand Central Station for a bit and perused through the most unique little gadget store. After heading to the subway we took a short ride and popped up directly in front of our theatre. Before the show we ate a yummy lunch around the corner and took a small detour of the Godiva chocolate store(we had to stock up for the show!).
We saw Mary Poppins and it was really amazing. We were awed by the music, and the actors, and changing of the scenes. Emma thought it was a bit long but Ellie loved, loved it. She's had her little Ipod stuck to her ears and dancing to Chim Chimney ever since. We ended the day with a customary visit to the M&M store for Emma and headed home by way of the New York City Library. It is quite a massive building, but every book on the shelves looked really fun and ready to be picked up and taken home(at least in the children's wing). We saw the original toy animals of Christopher Robin. After all that, a simple train ride took us home safe and sound. I really had a great time. I was with my best friends and I couldn't think of a better way to spend Ellie and my birthday.
Did you notice our little friend, Flat Stanely? He's small and not much trouble so even though he was a boy we let him come with us, but it turns out he wanted his picture taken everywhere we went.
No, we did not take Gracie or our little boy. They spent the day fishing and then running errand with Adam and our dads.
*I've added a few post from Easter and Spring break prior to all of Ellie's photos. Who knew a baptism, birthday, mother's day, and a family visit could keep me from blogging so long? We've sure had a lot of fun these past few weeks, and I'm now getting to the blogging part.
