Haha, I love this question. I had no idea what they were either.
And since I have the pictures I'll give you the run down.
First, you start with pool. Rectangles work and look the best.
Then at one end you build a little box, run some electrical, and set the motor and roll up tube in it. The box is then usually covered in a removable lid or sometimes a bench.
Then come the tracks. This pool has a really cool effect called a vanishing edge. The water spills over the edge and is recirculated. The tracks are here on the edge but don't disrupt the waterfall flow and on the other side they are hidden under the deck. The tracks guide the cover and house the ropes that are wound and unwound by the motor.
Here is the bar that leads the cover out.
With a little toggle of a switch the pool can be covered and uncovered.
The cover itself is made of a thick vinyl that is strong enough that you can walk on it, if there is water in the pool. Its just like a water bed. The water holds the cover up.
The leaves and children are kept out, the chemicals and water are kept in.
Here is the exceptional craftsman that installed this cover.
And what about these views?
Can I brag just a little bit more?
My husband was on TV!
A Coverstar cover was installed on the DIY reality show DREAMHOUSE.
You can go see him in action.
The episode with the pool and pool cover is entitled "Defining a Dream".
Installation of the cover starts in the last 5 minutes of the show.
Thanks for letting me talk about my man. He doesn't make it on the blog too often and thats a shame. He is the strongest part of our family. I had a great time spending this last week with him and learning more about what he does everyday.

love the pool and the way the cover just rolls out. Great idea
Okay, so now this guy has a pool cover to save kids from falling in the pool, but what is he going to get to now keep kids from falling off the pool cover, and down a cliff?
