A Calming Afternoon

Here they are enjoying the fading light of the afternoon. Camping chair pockets stuffed with CheezIts, feet reclined on their Chevy Convertible, and babies resting in the stroller nearby. Could it get any better?

As June approaches so does the end of preschool. I think we are all a bit sad. Ellie will miss her friends, as she attends a preschool in a different town and none of the kids will attend her kindergarten. And Emma and I will miss our alone time.

I have gotten to know this little girl a lot better while it has been just her and I. I don't mean to say that Ellie is bossy, its just that Emma takes on a whole different personality when big sister is around.

She is the quiet one that easily plays along with whatever Ellie wants. They always have a ton of fun, but it is always at Ellie guidance of how things are played.

I have gotten to know the talkative and musical Emma. On our car trips to and from Ellie's school we have had some interesting conversations. I think I found out she is a lot like me. Mostly quiet, but thats not because we don't have things to say, we just need good friends to listen. I loved giving her opportunities to just be herself. It was quite an eye opener.

The one subject that kept coming up on our drives was her "Emma House." which I wrote about here. Her "Emma House" is her make believe family that pretty much leads a perfect life according to her. They are everything she wishes we were.

1. Her Emma mommy has a small dark blue car. I drive a large gray car.
2. Her Emma mommy has a blue house. Mine is tan.
3. Her Emma mommy just had a little girl baby named Nessy, which is what she really wants our baby to be and she really wants it out of my tummy now.
4. She has a big sister who is tall like me, but is still a lot of fun. This sounds a lot like her twelve year old aunt Shanna in Arizona.
5. Her Emma mommy always had Dora fruit snacks and Dora yogurt and watermelon. I do not.
6. Her Emma mommy always buys her new blue dresses. I don't do this either.
7.
Her Emma grandma lives right next to her Emma mommy. Ours are in Arizona.

But as hard as it is to listen to a three year-olds criticisms, when I asked if her Emma mommy loved her as much as I did, she still said "Yes!"

I feel bad about not getting enough alone time with Piper- with all three actually! I try to have "special dates" with each girl at least once a month (and that isn't always easy to find time to do)!

I think it's great that she shares that with you - I hope she always does.

Best post ever! She is really great. I love the way she thinks about everything, you can see the wheels turning when you talk to her.

Caleb has started to want to go to Daddy's house/warehouse and he always wants to go home/Marble's house he cries when we go to mommy's house/home.
