Bathroom Assignment

I have an assignment in my Statistics class that I need your help with. We are to collect data on an issue that we are concerned about and evaluate it statistical merits( you know, mean, median, spread, distribution, all that cool stuff)

So, my concern is: Am I choosing the best toilet stall when I use public restrooms?

Don't laugh, this is a valid concern, not every bathroom has those little paper covers, and I have often wonder about it. To me the best stall would be the least used by others. To be honest, whenever I am out using a public restroom I usually am carting around two kids and we head straight for the first handicap stall, but does everyone else do that as well? It makes sense that a person with a real handicap would choose the first stall because it is the closest and thus require less effort and therefore that stall may be occupied more often. Or if I am alone I try to dart into the very first single stall because I reason that most people overlook that stall and settle on the second or third stalls. But I could be wrong there as well.

So I want to know, Which stall would you choose? If the bathroom you entered had 5 stalls, which would you choose, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th? And if that stall was unusable(dirty, unflushed, ect) which stall would be your next choice?

I have my predictions but I will keep them to myself until the data is collected. Oh, one other request, please DO NOT look at other people's comments before leaving your own, it could cloud your judgment and thus spoil the sample.

With your help we will be able to solve the mystery of the safest toilet and the world will be a better place.

Come on Mom, mom-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, friends, blogger friends leave your comments or else I will be calling you.

If I'm alone I go for number 3, in the middle. If that one is gross, I'll try one on either side. If I'm with kids...number 5--the handicapped stall. And if that's gross, I go to one in the middle (#3).

And, if I'm pregnant and in my church building, I use the handicapped stall because I couldn't maneuver my belly around the door to get in or out of the stall.

For me, the first one, closest to the door, in case I have to make a quick getaway. If it's not available, of course, I'd take the one next-closest to the door.

I go to more towards the middle 3 or 4 if Ethan is with me I go for the handicapped..

I start at toilet #2 and work my way down. This is because I assume that #1 is the most used and therefore the dirtiest.

With both kids I go for the handicapped. Just Truman...back to #2.

I USUALLY GO TO THEE 3RD STALL OR DEFINITELY THE 2 OR 3RD ONE DOWN WHICH IS EMPTY. SO IF THE 1ST AND 2ND ONE IS BEING USED THEN I GO TO THE 4TH AS LONG AS IT IS CLEAN AND HAS TOILET PAPER - A REAL PLUS CONSIDERING THE SQUATTER TOILETS IN CHINA! THERE IS NOTHING LIKE AN AMERICAN TIOLET EXCEPT FOR THE ONE IN LYON, FRANCE WHICH UPON FLUSHING THE TOILET THE SEAT ROTATED WHILE A WET BRUSH CLEANED AND THEN WAS SQEEEGED DRY. THAT WAS VERY FUN. I HAD TO DO IT TWICE JUST TO WATCH! LOVE YOU, MOM MARBLE

Keep it coming gals, this is very informative, but I still need more data. Mom? Annie? Christina? Christine? Bethany? Katie? Lisa? Shanna? Ashtyn?

Oh, and remember

DO NOT look at other's comments

Kayla, this is a hard assignment for me-for I have often said the one thing about me is that I am consistently inconsistent. It would probably depend on my mood. If I was tired I would go to the 1st stall then to the second-just as long as there was little thought as possible involved. If I was feeling rather perky I might go to the 3rd or handicapped stall (just for more room, and a less claustrophobic feeling). Anyway, the more I think about it the more I realize I don't think I ever consistently go to the same stall for any particular reason I am always switching around. Sorry, annie (your sister-n-law who can not make a permanent decision). I am thinking after this survey I will put more thought into it.

k, can I qualify my previous statement? I've been thinking a lot about my response, and tonight after using the bathroom at both dinner and movie, I have to say, I think I was wrong. I went to use the first one in both places, since that's what I said, and I just COULDN'T do it. I had to go to the 2nd. It was like I was being led there by an unseen force. Freakish, but true, I couldn't go to bed without reporting in on my discrepancy.

Thank you Karri for your honesty, what a funny story. Who knew my questions would haunt you so?

But I am still waiting for the rest of YOU out there to comment, and until you do you I cannot add anymore cute stories about my family, and I have a great one to share about my BabyWhisperer, so get cracking and POST.

I normally choose the handicap one if it doesn't look too daunting, otherwise, the first one. If it is dirty, I try and find another restroom in another place, but if I don't have time or know another place to try, I just go down the row and hope for the best.

I choose the 2nd or 3rd, are you happy now, silly girl?
