Our fourth of July weekend was great. Since adding our little man to the family and becoming a group of 6 our holiday celebrations have become a bit more simplified. The long traffic jammed roads to the beach don't call our names anymore. The day long picnics aren't that appealing. The late afternoons of sitting in a parking lot waiting for the fireworks to begin just scream torture. So this year we tried to pick only the best. Pool on Saturday, Church on Sunday, Monday was mowing and lunch at home, dinner at the lake with family(our little man's family to be exact, which was pretty neat. We got to meet a bunch of his extended family), but the only thing we couldn't skimp on was the fireworks. We headed to the nearby town of Washington to see a great show. Yes we had screaming toddlers by the end, but that is one part of the 4th that cannot be simplified.

All that snow and winter was worth it, if this is the summer we are going to have. The past week has been amazing. Just warm enough, with that perfect little breeze, and no humidity!
Ha,ha, Ellie was a little put out that we went to the preschool playground tonight. She is way too big to have any fun there. She is going into third grade after all. After a while she got a book from the car and read on the swings. Emma doesn't care where she plays. Her imaginary friends show up anywhere. But the little kids and I really enjoyed ourselves. They could play on everything safely and easily and there was a nice enclosed fence to keep them from wandering. Totally took the stress out of our park trips. Now, if only I could find a park like this when school is in session and this one is occupied.
