But then things started falling into place. My uncle was able to come out right before the holidays began to finish the plumbing. My mom had finished the entries and kitchen tile and had begun working on the bathrooms. When we arrived we found a finished kitchen and three nearly working bathrooms. The only real thing missing from pulling off a Christmas in the new house was the hardwood flooring on the main floor. So Adam and my brothers Robert and Kurtis worked hard and fast to finish before Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve we had our traditional Christmas dinner, nativity reading, and pj opening. We also talked to my brother Jacob who is on his mission is N Korea. Then we sent the little ones to bed and then had a ball setting up Christmas. After everything was in its place we sent mom and dad to bed and then we Elves waited for them to fall asleep. We then tossed all the presents and wrapping along with a few couches into the back of a few trucks and took them on over to the new house(I felt a bit like the Grinch as we packed all the presents up, but we left a note for my kids telling them where Christmas would be). Then under the new 9 footer that my mom had gotten for her new house in last year's Christmas sales, we set up Christmas again. Yes, we even hung up all sixteen stockings again( I love those 3M stick on hooks, so handy.)
And Christmas morning, my mom got to have her Christmas in her new house!
