Surviving Softball

We are in the thick of softball and t-ball season.  This is the first year we have participated in a real team sport and the girls are still enjoying it.  Ellie in particular loves it.  She works hard at practice and has really improved.  You can hardly tell that she is the rookie amongst the other seasoned players.  We are not sure this was the right year for Emma to start, but we are going to stick it out and learn some things about doing your best, paying attention, and being a good sportsman.  But she still looks so cute in her little uniform.  I was proud of her the other day at her game.  She ran up to catch a grounder and it bounced up and popped her in the face.  She cried and got a hug from her coach but stayed in the game. The surprising thing was, when the next grounder headed her way, she still charged forward to catch it.  No fear.  Way to go Emma!

Now I just have to figure out how to keep the other smaller two occupied night after night, Saturday after Saturday, and game after game out in the field.  Some things that have rescued us:

The ipod,
The big purple bouncy ball and friends,
The soccer goal and the small baseball cap,
The wide open areas to throw to our hearts content.

Any more ideas for me?
We've got four games this week alone!!!

You've been a busy Mama between theater and baseball and softball. My kids like to take the leapster and coloring stuff of all sorts...they also like to buy ring pops which last a while at the snack bar. It is still brutal though. We have about 10 hours of baseball a week and this home stretch is really a home stretch!! Your kids are looking great!

My parents were big into softball. Good luck with keeping those little ones busy. I wish my kids would decide what they want to do they get one activity each.

Yeah... the iTouch has always been my secret.T he funny thing is that it will keep them entertained for hours at home, but the second we leave the house and I really need them quiet, suddenly it isn't good enough. So, if you have any other good suggestions, please share :)
